Our office just began the implementation of an imaging process yesterday, so it will mean the end of paper files for next year. No more paper cuts, searching for files, or moving files back and forth between people in the office. But it is also the time to start thinking about next years class, and getting everything ready for a new group of applicants. I will post next years application essays on our website tomorrow, along with a few new web pages giving advice on the admission process and essay writing. Now you are probably thinking, why is this guy starting a blog about UGA Admissions? After being stopped for the 300th time in a grocery store, little league game, or at a restaurant to answer questions about admissions, or just to shoot down admissions myths, I thought it was time to share these answers with the world (or at least just my small part of it). Most people know that Johannes Gutenberg invented movable type presses during the 15th century—in 1440 to be exact. That invention, which was possibly historys greatest, made the inexpensive printing of books possible. But many other important inventions were introduced  during this century. Below are those that top the list. Then transplantation, spatial visual acuity and luminance thresholds were also measures. Results: The differentiated cells survived the transplantation in RCS rats for a long period and sustained the visual function. Cells also sustained the receptor integrity in a dose-dependent manner. Long term data did not reveal gross or microscopic evidence of tumor formation after transplantation, suggesting that the cell line can be used as safe and inexhaustible source of RPE for retinal degenerative diseases treatment. In contrast, in the RCS rat transplant study, no evidence off teratoma or uncontrolled cell proliferation was found. Conclusions: The authors represented that the long-term safety and efficacy of hESC derived RPE cells can be used for human clinical trials, under the manufacturing conditions these have been produced.
